To get started with Notifense, you must set up a payment method.

Payment and credits

Every active asset in Notifense incurs a fixed monthly connection fee billed at the end of every month. In addition, to send alerts to recipients, Notifense uses credits that are added to your account. A new Notifense account will have some free credits available for testing purposes.

To be able to pay for the monthly connection fee and to add credits to your account, you must set up a payment method using the POST /v1/account/paymentMethod API endpoint. When calling this endpoint, you will receive a URL to visit in your browser. Here you can configure your preferred payment method. Notifense does not store payment information such as credit card or bank account numbers; this is handled by our payment service provider.

Payment fees

Be aware that some payment methods incur an additional fee. This fee is added to cover the fees from our payment service provider.

Adding credits

Once your payment method has been configured, there are three ways to add credits to your account.

Manual top-up

To manually add credits to your account, call the POST /v1/account/topUp endpoint and specify the amount of credits you would like to purchase. The credits will be added to your account immediately and billed to your configured payment method.

Automatic top-up

To automatically add credits to your account once it reaches a certain amount of credits remaining, set up automatic top-up using the PUT /v1/account endpoint and set the isAutoTopUpEnabled property to true. You must also specify the autoTopUpCredits and lowCreditsThreshold properties. When your account reaches an amount of credits equal to or lower than the threshold, it will be automatically topped up with the amount of credits specified.

To disable automatic top-up, use the PUT /v1/account endpoint and set isAutoTopUpEnabled to false.

Post-paid

Post-paid billing will automatically bill you every month for all credits used in the month before to your configured payment method.
